Camp Christina Scholarship Fund Opens Doors to the Magic of Summer Camp Old Colony YMCA is proud to announce the endowment of the Camp Christina Scholarship Fund, made possible through a generous leadership gift from Gary and Marjorie Fradin. This new scholarship fund will open the gates of Camp Christina to more children whose families may not have the financial means to afford summer camp. The fund’s goal is simple but powerful: to ensure that every child has the chance to experience the fun, friendships, and personal growth that camp provides.Located on the grounds of the Stoughton YMCA, Camp Christina is a summer day camp that serves more than 400 children each day from the communities of Stoughton, Randolph, Brockton, and surrounding towns.Over the summer, Gary and Marjorie Fradin visited Camp Christina for the first time. They were deeply impressed by the wide range of camp activities, the impressive size of the camp, and the diverse community of campers served. “This camp is an absolute gem! It provides a safe, fun environment for local youth who need community assistance,” Marjorie shared. “We know that our contribution will be used to help families and children thrive.” Gary added, “We were inspired to make this leadership gift after visiting Camp Christina and witnessing summer camp in action. We want to help more local kids experience this wonderful summer program.”Joe Leaver, Vice President of the Old Colony Y in Stoughton, shared that Camp Christina provides more than $70,000 in scholarship funds to low-income families each summer, with more than 50 percent of campers receiving financial support. “The Camp Christina Scholarship Fund represents a lasting investment in our community’s youth,” said Leaver. “This leadership gift will make it possible for children from all backgrounds to access the life-changing experiences that camp provides, both now and in the years ahead.”The Camp Christina Scholarship Fund is established as an open endowment, allowing others to join in supporting this meaningful effort. As the founding donors, Gary and Marjorie hope their leadership gift will inspire additional contributions to the endowed fund to help even more children experience the magic of camp. When asked what they would say to others who may be interested in giving, the Fradins shared, “Visit Camp Christina in action and talk to the campers. You’ll see that local kids will clearly benefit from your generosity.”If you would like to learn more about the Camp Christina Scholarship Fund, or if you are interested in supporting this endowment fund, please contact Peter Timbrell, Director of Development, at ptimbrell@oldcolonyymca.org.
