Girls Secure Detention Unit

The Old Colony Y Girls Secure Detention Unit provides secure residential care for 20 court referred adolescent females ages 11-21.  The residents are either recently committed to the Department of Youth Services and waiting for placement in a treatment program, or detained for future court dates.

The GSDU provides a very structured setting with a full complement of medical, clinical, recreational and educational services.  The clinical department provides both individual and group counseling sessions, conducts groups of special interest as well as utilizing outside resources and is available to answer any questions or concerns our residents may have.  Our school, which is accredited, is held Monday through Friday and covers all subject areas.  Educational reports and test results are made available to all public and private schools the resident may return to or attend once they are released from our Unit.  The medical staff is always available to conduct physicals and address any medical issues or concerns our residents may have.

The residents at the GSDU receive excellent care and supervision from dedicated, caring employees in a safe, secure environment. The goal of the Girls Secure Detention Unit is to instill a strong sense of positive values in the residents under our care as well as enhance and promote healthy lifestyles.
