Taunton Education and Leadership

All kids have great potential. At the Old Colony YMCA, a leading nonprofit strengthening community through youth development, we work every day to help them set and achieve their personal and educational goals. As a result, children and teens gain confidence as they recognize the Y as a place where they belong and can feel comfortable exploring new interests and passions. Through leadership and academic enrichment programs such as mentoring and Youth and Government, we make sure that every child has an opportunity to envision a positive future and to take an active role in strengthening the community.

Darkness to Light

Darkness to Light is a non-profit organization whose mission is to diminish the incidence and impact of child sexual abuse. Darkness to Light developed Stewards of Children, a training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Our goal as a Y is to train our community and spread the knowledge of sexual abuse. Through community trainings, we hope to decrease the number of children being abused and educate adults about the signs to look for in children that are being abused. Please speak with a member of our Welcome Center if you’d like to learn more.
