Youth and Government
This program uses the YMCA core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility - to teach high school students how they can participate in the democratic process. Participants will research state issues, draft bills and participate in legislative sessions. These sessions prepare the "delegates" for the Model Government conference at the State House where they will spend 3 days and 2 nights in Boston. Here they will assume roles such as state legislators, judges, lawyers and press reporters while developing life skills and learning how they can make a difference.
