Group Exercise

The Old Colony YMCA offers an array of group exercise classes to help our members reach their fitness goals, while making friends and having fun in a group setting.  From spinning to yoga, every member, regardless of age or fitness level, can find group fitness classes at our branches to benefit from.

20-20-20

Three classes in one: 20 minutes of step, 20 minutes of floor aerobics, and 20 minutes of core-conditioning/cool-down. Floor aerobics may consist of low/high impact activities at different intensities (even sprinkled from time to time with a few easy to follow dance-style moves). You'll be jammin' to the tunes in this fun class.

Boot Camp

Fun work, hard play! An exercise format that is sure to rev up the most avid exercisers. This class may involve running, jogging, high-impact activities, and resistance training to exercise the entire body. Class may be conducted inside or outside depending on weather. Prepare to sweat.

C & C

(Cardio & Core)

A low-impact aerobic class that will vary from low to moderate intensity. A core segment will follow each aerobic workout to enhance strength and endurance of one's midsection. Check it out and C.

Cadio Kickbox

An intense workout that combines cardiovascular work and body toning with basic sparring skills, all set to the music of today. No martial arts experience necessary. Kick! Punch! Sweat!

Core Training

Enjoy the benefits of using medicine balls and stability spheres to work the core of your body (abdominals, lower back, hips). Develop core strength, improve posture and prevent injuries with this 30-min. workout.

Falun Dafa

A class that can consist of 5 simple, yet powerful exercises that include four standing positions and one sitting meditation. These exercises, in combination with the refinement of one's inner nature, are the path for reaching improvements in health and a deepened spiritual awareness. The practice is based on the universal principals of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. This class is not an aerobic workout.

Integrated Circuit

A great workout that allows one to achieve the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and strength in the same session. Never get bored because content varies during class and from class to class.

Interval Effect

Similar to Integrated Circuit, this circuit-style workout changes intensity at a faster pace and gives you the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and body toning. If you get bored easily, this workout may be for you.

Kickbox Plus

All the benefits/intensity of cardio-kickboxing and more. This class combines kickbox aerobics and body conditioning skills to get you to your fitness goals. Kick! Punch! Have a blast!

Low Impact Basics

Intimidated by aerobic classes but want to try? This beginner class teaches you basic terminology and movements and takes you through a guided workout with hopes of giving you the confidence to take other classes. Movements are varied and change from class to class. Resistance training is also touched upon in this class.

Muscle Mania

This class focuses on muscle conditioning without the intimidation and hustle of the weight room setting. Exercises revolve around the use of bodybars, dynabands, resistance tunes and partners. It is recommended that partcipants warm-up on their own before entering each class. This is not an aerobic workout.

Pilates

A series of mat exercises designed to stretch, strengthen and improve posture. Pilates teaches balance and control of the body and that capacity spills over into other areas of one's life. Core conditioning is guaranteed in this class.

PiYo

This class is a fusion style flexibility workout combining pilates, yoga, dance and strength in a flowing environment. This blend of pilates and yoga includes modifications for the group exercise environment, yet offers challenges to all levels of participants.

Spinning

A group exercise experience on specially designed stationary bikes unlike any other in the fitness room. The intensity of the workout is regulated by the instructor and by the amount of resistance you apply to the flywheel. You have the freedom to make your workout as challenging as you want. This class may be worth to try if you like to cycle. Hope you enjoy the ride! (Class space is limited and awarded on a first come/first serve basis starting 1 hour prior to class. Class may extend a little past scheduled ending time due to set-up and clean-up of bikes.)

Step-N-Sculpt

A fun-filled workout focused around the step. Steps are combined with arm gestures to increase large-muscle movements and burn more fat. Each class concludes with a muscle-scuplting component. Times goes by fast when you are having fun!
