Anthony Fortin

Anthony was born and currently resides in Bridgewater, MA.  He lives with his parents, twin brother, and two younger brothers.  Throughout his life, Anthony has participated in sports including baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and track and field.  Currently, he plays softball for the Carver Men's Softball League.  Anthony graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 2005.  He was accepted to Bridgewater State College and is presently focusing his studies on communication and physical education.  Upon graduation, Anthony would like to become a high school physical education teacher until he can fulfill his dream of working in movies - writing, acting, or even directing.  One little known fact about Anthony is that he was an extra for the motion picture, The Great Debaters, starring Denzel Washington.  In fact, Denzel bumped into him and said, "Excuse me, son."  He has also had the pleasure of shaking hands with Kevin Garnett when he was an extra for the commercial, Adidas: The Brotherhood.  Anthony has been a Fitness Instructor for the East Bridgewater Family YMCA since July of 2006.

Brett Conti

Brett currently resides in Bridgewater, MA and graduated from Bridgewater Raynham High School in 2005.  Currently, Brett is studying Physical Education at Bridgewater State College but plans to transfer to a school that offers Dental Hygiene.  His future goal is to one day become a dentist.  Brett works out daily and makes it a priority to continually live a healthy lifestyle.  In fact, he competed in his first bodybuilding competition in April of 2007.  Brett's strict monitoring of his diet has lead to his interest in becoming a registered dietitian.  Little known to members, he is also an artist and enjoys skiing and rock climbing.  Brett started as a Fitness Instructor for the East Bridgewater Family YMCA back in April of 2005.

Wendy Mercik

Wendy Mercik was born and raised in Brockton, MA. At the young age of six, she became interested in horseback riding and started taking lessons. At age 10, she started competing in many horse shows on the east coast, many of which she won. Wendy eventually ended up qualifying for the regionals seven years later. From there, she was classified as one of the Top 100 Junior riders in the U.S. and was invited to compete at the International Horse Show at Madison Square Garden in New York and the National Horse Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Soon afterwards, Wendy's interest in exercise started to replace her interest in horseback riding. She started learning about working out and became a regular at it. During her regular routines, she happened to meet a successful local bodybuilder who educated her further and helped Wendy compete in her first bodybuilding contest. Wendy competed in others, including the NPC Mass States where she placed third in her class.

Wendy received an associate's degree in Legal Studies. She worked as a legal secretary in Boston for ten years. Looking for more stability in her working career, Wendy has decided to return to school and is currently attending Bridgewater State College. She has chosen to pursue a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Management. Wendy has been a Fitness Instructor for the East Bridgewater Family YMCA since October of 2009.

Denise Nelson

Denise Nelson was born and raised in Brockton, MA. While attending Brockton High School, she ran track and field and specialized in the 400 meter race. It was during this time that Denise acquired a passion for physical fitness. Since then, she has made exercise a priority and her favorite activities include cycling, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing.

Denise attended UMass Dartmouth and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. She worked as an office manager of a marketing promotional company for six years before leaving work to start a family. She currently resides in Bridgewater, MA with her husband, daughter, son, mancoon cat (a terror to the neighborhood), and dog (a master magician who manages to find ways of escaping from the house). Up to this point in Denise's career, raising a family is the hardest job she has ever had.

To relax, Denise and her family like to escape to their log cabin in the Green Mountains of Vermont. It is a small cabin that was built from a kit and has no amenities such as running water or electricity. In fact, the cabin has a separate outhouse, similar to what you may have seen in older movies, minus the crescent moon carved into the door. Denise has been with the East Bridgewater Family YMCA since December of 2009.

Dave Liffers

Dave currently resides in Norwell, MA and graduated from Norwell High in 2005.  He is currently a senior at Bridgewater State College where he is studying Physical Education.  He is a pitcher for the BSC baseball team and plays in the Cranberry and Boston Park League during the summer.  In addition to working at the Y, Dave coaches a team of 13 year-olds within the South Shore Baseball Club in Hingham.  He enjoys board and card games such as Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Rummy, and Cribbage.  Dave is a huge Boston sports fan and memorizes SportsCenter daily.  He has been with the East Bridgewater Family YMCA since September of 2007.

Matt Hrenko

Matt is originally from Stoughton, MA where he played baseball, basketball, and football.  He currently resides in West Bridgewater with his wife Christine and his boxer Rocky.  Matt attended Suffolk University and played basketball there until an injury forced him to retire.  It was then that he decided to transfer to Bridgewater State College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, a personal training license, and two coaching licenses.  He has coached baseball at Coyle Cassidy High School for 4 years and has been the assistant varsity basketball coach at East Bridgewater High School for the past 5 years.  Matt is the owner of JR's Landscaping and JR's Home Improvement.  In addition, he is also a real estate agent and has successfully completed the coursework to become a broker.  Matt loves all sports and does not sleep at night because of his addiction to the NFL and MLB network.  Because he loves to eat, he also enjoys cooking.  A proud uncle of newborn twins, Matt has been with the East Bridgewater Family YMCA since March of 2008.
